Isolated to scattered showers will continue across south-central Arizona through sunrise.

Additional isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible this afternoon and early evening across south-central and eastern AZ, with the best chances in the higher terrain locations.

Storm chances will continue Tuesday and Wednesday across south-central and eastern AZ, but will be more limited in coverage with lower overall impacts.

Above normal temperatures will continue with widespread high end Moderate HeatRisk and localized areas of Major HeatRisk across southeast CA and the Lower CO River Valley through Thursday.

Friday looks to be the hottest day this week with widespread Major HeatRisk across southeastern California and into southwestern Arizona.

Excessive Heat Warning for south-central AZ with localized Major HeatRisk today for the Phoenix metro. Hot and humid conditions will continue through this weekend.

Thunderstorm chances this afternoon and early evening focused across eastern half of Pinal Co., far eastern Maricopa County, and into southern Gila County. Strong winds and blowing dust are the main threats today over Phoenix and areas east and southeast of Phoenix. Daily chances of isolated lower desert storms and scattered higher terrain storms increasing over the weekend.

Very hot temperatures with near Major HeatRisk are expected this weekend, with areas of Major HeatRisk developing by early next week.

Red Flag Warning in effect for higher terrain areas of south-central Arizona today due to winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph, resulting in critical fire weather conditions this afternoon and evening.

Minor to Moderate HeatRisk will continue through the middle of the week, as temperatures hover near or slightly above normal across the region.

Monitoring potential for another excessive heat episode, with areas of Major HeatRisk developing across southcentral Arizona by Friday.

First round of monsoon moisture is likely later this week, with thunderstorm chances increasing as early as Thursday, with slight chances continuing into this weekend across higher terrain areas of south-central Arizona.

Chase Choate, Environmental Director at Quechan Indian Tribe, is recommending everyone to utilize the purpleair.com website as a tool to keep informed of the air quality. 

You can go to purpleair.com and on the map select the circle near Ft. Yuma Hill you can see in real time the air quality.  In the lower left box you can select for either PM (particulate matter) 10 or PM 2.5 EPA AQI (air quality index) to see the difference between finer and coarser particulate matter.  The finer particulate matter as in 2.5, is more likely to reach deeper into your lungs.

Air Quality Index for PM 2.5 is quite high.
