On Monday, January 4, 2021 the 2021/2022 Quechan Tribal Council was inaugurated by Chief Game Warden Gordon Osborne. The five council members sworn in are newly elected Council Members, Faron M. Owl, Claudette C. White, and Darnella Melancon with two returning incumbents Charles R. Escalanti and Ina M. Hall.
The ceremony opened with two songs performed by Zion White. His songs were titled Urav (Lightning) and Tsiier. Ms. Barbara Levy then gave her blessing to the new council before they took their oath of office.
California recently began a $500 million grant program for eligible small business owners and nonprofits who have been impacted by COVID-19 and the health and safety restrictions. Grants up to $25,000 will be given to eligible small businesses and nonprofits to help cover expenses during the pandemic. The Acorn Project, a project of Indian Dispute Resolution Services, Inc., is working to get the word out to Indian Country and assist people who need help to apply for the grant.

SERIOUS COVID-19 SYMPTOMS REQUIRING IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CARE
If you develop any of these symptoms, call your healthcare provider or health facility and seek medical care immediately: Shortness of breath/ Difficulty breathing, Loss of speech or mobility or confusion, Chest pain.
MOST COMMON SYMPTOMS
Fever, Cough, Tiredness, Loss of taste or smell.
LESS COMMON SYMPTOMS
Sore throat, Headache, Aches and pains, Diarrhea, A rash on the skin or discoloration of fingers or toes, Red or irritated eyes.
This is not an exhaustive list. These are the most common symptoms of serious illness, but you could get very sick with other symptoms - if you have any questions, call for help immediately.
PLEASE NOTE:
• If you live in an area where malaria, dengue or other infections are common and you have any of above symptoms, seek immediate medical care according to the local health authorities.
• Stay in touch with your primary care provider to ensure you continue to receive the routine care you need, such as medication refills, follow-ups and other routine consultations.

BEGINNING OCTOBER 5, 2020, SPVUSD MEAL SERVICE WILL CHANGE
Every Tuesday from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM – SPVUSD will now be serving 7 days’ worth of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Your children do not need to be with you.
• Students can pick up their own meals as long as they are wearing masks. • We can serve any children in the community who are 0-18. If a student is enrolled at San Pasqual and is 19, they will be served.
• Service will be at 4 locations:
o Cafeteria
o New Sub Park
o Old Sub Park
o Winterhaven Sheriff’s New Substation
• Please wear a mask when picking up meals. • You will be asked how many children are in your family.
• Please remember:
o Cold Food: Refrigerate as soon as possible or within 2 hours maximum.
o Frozen Foods: Place in freezer immediately
o Cooking Instructions: Remove packaging and cook in microwave or oven until 165 degrees. Follow all cooking instructions on packaging.

During these uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the "Stay at Home" order still in effect on the reservation, Quechan Tribal Council has decided to CANCEL Indian Day and Halloween. We continue to have concern for the health and safety of our com1nunity and we would like to keep our members protected from this virus.
The Quechan Tribal Council is working on alternative options for Thanksgiving and Christmas Community Dinners, Toy Drive, and the Food Drive. We will notify you when those plans are solidified. We continue to monitor health and safety experts to help guide us to making the best choices for our members.

Starting Thursday October, 15th 2020, the Office of Emergency Management will be hosting a weekly Covid-19 Care Kits Drive-Thru distribution for all enrolled Quechan tribal members 18 years and older at The Quechan Community Center.
*Care Kits have already been distributed to the Elder tribal members who are signed up for home deliveries with the Quechan Senior Nutrition Center.
These kits contain:
- Digital thermometer and temperature record card
- (2) Masks
- Surface cleaner
- Pulse oximeter
- (2) Pill organizer
- Quick guide to “Stay Safe, Stay Clear, Stay Clean, Stay Strong”
- Symptom checker
- Informational pamphlets regarding Covid-19, hand washing, facial coverings, and pulse oximetry instructions & usage

The Quechan Tribe’s COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program has been developed to provide assistance to small businesses owned by enrolled members of the Tribe, as well as business enterprises wholly owned by the Tribe, that have suffered business interruption costs incurred due to COVID-19 required closures. The Program Description is now available for review, and the Application will be released on Monday, August 31, 2020.
Open to Parents/Legal Guardians of Enrolled Quechan Tribal Members only (3–18 year olds).
The 2020 School Covid-19 Readiness Program has been developed to assist school age children (Headstart–12th Grade) during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
This assistance is to purchase items to prepare the Student for Distance Learning online or those attending school on campus. Items such as; Education supplies, Electronic Items, Cleaning Supplies, Food for Student, Utilities, personal hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

We have to make sure you and everyone in your community is counted.

Your community risks getting less funding every year for the next 10 years, if you don’t respond to the 2020 Census now. This means you could lose benefits you already have.
