Quechan Membership:

The Quechan Tribal Council, with growing concern for the health and safety of our Tribal membership, guests, employees and the surrounding communities of Yuma and Imperial Counties we have made a decision to cease casino operations and reduce certain tribal programs and facilities in support of the nationwide effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

 

During our closures. the Tribal Administration Offices will be closed to the general public and will only be accessed by authorized personnel until further notice. Attached is a listing of the Tribal Programs and Facilities that are currently operating as well as contact information. We ask for your patience with Programs that provide services to the membership as you may experience longer than normal wait times.

The Tribal Council feels the best course of action for our nation is to declare a State of Emergency to exist on the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation in order to minimize the threat of a potential outbreak and spread of COVID-19 onto the reservation. A State of Emergency will make it possible to apply for state and federal funds when and if they become available to Tribes. Such funding will make Quechan resources available to help formalize emergency actions that are already underway within the tribal government while assisting the Tribe to prepare for the potential outbreak of COVID-19.

At this time, Agencies nationwide are experiencing equipment and supply shortages and are doing their best to disburse resources available. We will continue to monitor the progress and effects or COVID-19 (Coronavirus) with federal, state. local and tribal agencies and update our wehsite as information becomes available. We ask that you only seek information from reputable sources, such as the Center for Disease Control or the World Health Organization.

Please continue to take preventative measures to keep you and those around you safe. Wash your hands for (20) seconds with soap and water, distance yourself from others, avoid touching your face. avoid those who are sick and use hand sanitizer containing 60% or more alcohol if water is not available.

These are trying and uncertain times and we would like to thank our membership, guests and dedicated employees for helping us take the preventative measure for the benefit of many. At this time, it is undetermined when employees can report back to work but we look forward to welcoming everyone back when it is safe to return. In the meantime. we will continue to pray for the health and safety of everyone.
