Latest MMWR (Monkeypox) Report
A new MMWR study looked at contamination of objects and surfaces in a household of two patients with monkeypox. The patients isolated at home for 20 days before objects and surfaces were sampled and reported washing their hands frequently, using multi-surface spray on objects and surfaces daily, and other routine household cleaning. None of the samples taken from the household contained live virus that could cause infection at the time they were sampled.
If you’re living in or visiting the home of someone with monkeypox, it’s important to take precautions.
- Wear a well-fitting mask
- Avoid touching contaminated surfaces
- Wash hands frequently
- Avoid sharing eating utensils, clothing, bedding, or towels
- Follow home disinfection recommendations
